So about a month ago I noticed this in two of my bichirs. There rear end of my bichir's seems to be bent over almost like a broken back. They swim fine, appetite is unchanged, and only 2 of the 8 bichirs in the tank have this problem. Only thing I can think of is being bloated. Any help is appreciated.

Yup, something happened to its spine. It shouldn't be a birth defect because the palmas looks WC.

From what I have read in other threads is that it is deformities due to mass prodution of cb bichirs.

From my experience this can also happen with polypterus that are Undernourished. We have received plenty of polypterus that have this same thing and within a few weeks of good feeding and clean water they have turned out fine...I am not saying that is your case here but it is something to look at.

What are you feeding? How often are you feeding? And do you see them get there fare share?

I feed them market shrimp, bloodworms, and NLS Pellets. They do get there share

Nope just happen kinda recently.

I know this is a super old thread, but did your bichir ever straighten out? I have a similar issue with my ornate bichir. It was perfectly straight for months and now it's head is always upright, it isn't able to lay completely flat like my other bichirs.
