Help please with my Redtail Hybrid

I just noticed this the other day on my Redtail Hybrid and was hoping someone might know what it is and if I should be concerned. It has gotten bigger in the last week but he is still eating and acting normal. Any help would be great.

my guess is with an abscess or some sort. Can you ouch it? is it firm or somewhat soft? anything in the tank he can poke himself on?

Thanks for the help. It has shrunk over the weekend and is almost gone. There really isn't much in the tank that isn't rounded and smooth. Maybe one of the other fish did something to him. One never knows sometimes with these big ones. Thanks again for the help.
