i have a sailfin tang that has ick. i want to give a freshwater bath but i dont have any ph buffers..

is there n e thing i can do at the moment? anything that is safe for the fish to raise the ph? or is there another method that can help me cure my fish? please advise. thank you

always have a spare tank for treatment if needed. I would like to know how large the sailfin is, what size tank he's in, his diet and other tank mates. It helps to have a few (3-4) skunk cleaners depending on tank size, that can help clean him during the length of the night.

if your getting the break out you'll want to look at your water parameters as well. things off balance could be a sign or cause of stress among other things. A few i asked questions about already.

it is not a reef tank. its a 150g with live rock. i would like to remove the fish and treat in a qt tank but i havent set one up yet. i have a percula clown fish and a green cromis along with 3 cleaner shrimp. i used to have 4 but i cannot find one. and a a hand full of hermit crabs. i checked the water parameters as soon as i found that there was ick. seems ok. maybe im keeping the light on for to long and that may be stressing them out. i feed them brine shrimp and sinking pellets. the sailfin is about 2 1/2 inches.

i would really start trying to feed like fomula 2 algae flakes and some sheets of algae every now and then. Its very important for there health that they get algae in there diet. I doubt this would be the cause of irritans but it shouldnt be rulled out yet. Take out, treat and QT for 6 weeks or longer to ensure its no longer infected and then reintroduce into you DT. good luck

update. before i could treat the sign of ick has disappeared should i still treat my fish? or am i in the clear?

Sometimes stres brings it on and will vanish after time But
Anotherr way to treat ick without any meds or QT is slowly raise the temp in the tank to 88-90 degrees for about ten days!
Most Ick can't survive in high temps
Just remember to put in an air stone cause the higher temp depleates O2 in the water!
