my 60 g tank has been cycling for about three days and the numbers seem good besides the gh (too hard?) and havnt changed.

nitrate-0
nitrite-0
gh-300
kh-170
ph-7.8

there is media from my thirtyg tank in there and its constant at 82º is it safe to transfer the fish over? 3 cichlids. thanks guys

What kind of cycle are you doing? Have you run an ammonia test? The nitrite and nitrite wont be present usually for at least a week,

a first cycle for a new bigger tank. 29→61 transfering fish. i was told that with the old media from the 29 and a bottle of bio-spira-esque fluid it would only take a week.

if you have 0 nitrates you are not cycled. nitrates are the final "product" of the nitrification process. ammonia is turned into nitrites, then nitrites to nitrates. the only way to remove nitrates for the average fishkeeper is through water changes. the fact that you have no nitrates, means that the nitrites havent begun breaking down, AND the fact that you have no nitrites means that the ammonia has not begun breaking down. you got a ways to go.

X2 Well put:) Best of luck to you OP and remember its all about patience. My tank took about 50 days to cycle.

so biro spira doesnt work? i have patients but the fish have out grown the tank very quickly and continue to grow. just wanna speed up the process. ive had a couple of the fish for about a year and dont wanna see em go.

then what should my #s look like at the end? i did my 1st tank without ever testing the water. i just want to do things the right way this time and not loose fish in the fastest way

Only refrigerated bacteria-in-a-bottle products work... and that is if the bacteria are ALWAYs refrigerated.

Is there an ammonia source for the bacteria in the new tank? if not then you cannot cycle the tank.
