Ok, i am usually not one to post things in the wrong forum but.... I have freshwater stingrays so i am putting it here, Is brown alge bad for stingrays, I would guess not and that it just looks bad. I have a bare bottom tank and it has been very clear for months..all of a sudden i am having a brown alge explosion, I can clean my tank and in 2 days it's coveren again. Looks like **** when people come over. What could have changed, or what can i do to get this under control......PLEASE>>>>>>>>

check your water parameters. You might be having a spike, which is causing the bloom. If this is the case the algea might not be your biggest problem as rays are sensative to amonia nitrate and nitrite.

I'd say the same. your algea is going to be a good sign that there is Manuir in your tank. clean it with waterchanges.

does the tank get lots more sunlight or are the lights on longer?

i agree

I am real chemical shy, but i do about 25% water change 3 times a week....is that good ? not good enough ??

Are you using any new water? some water has high phospate wich will make algea grow. ( I now how you feel my tank used to have alot of overgrowth of algea , since i couldent change my water supply and trust me i tryed i got a big clean up crew for the tank in about 2 week it was spotless i never have to do algea scrapes anymore YAY!

What kind of clean up crew ??? I had 2 pleco's but they got a quick trip to the store for sucking on my rays disc. I also have a aro in there to deal with as well..
