i have a 55g freshwater aquarium thats being given to me but its a hour ride and theres fish in the aquarium how should i get the tank and fish home ???
do i leave them in the tank with a little bit of water or put them in a tote or what please help!?!

I would empty the tank and bag up the fish individually (depending on the fish)

I've seen people using 5 gallon buckets for the fish if you have any longer times expected before setup in your home. Bags are a good short distance and short period of time solution though.

Yes, 5 gallon buckets with lids is the best way, must have lids, I transferred some big fish in buckets, some of them stayed in the buckets for close to two hours. Just make sure temp outside and in vehicle is good.

Also try to save as much water and the filter media if you can. That way there is less stress on the fish.its a lot of wieght to haul but home depot sells 5 gallon buckets I would try to save 20 gallons.
