I have a 20 gallon long tank with a regular 20 gallon filter and i have cloudy water... i had the same problem with my other 20 gallon tank but when i changed the filter to a 60 gallon filter the water cleared up... what is the problem?

It can depend on a lot of things, stocking, what the filter is (assuming a HOB?) You should almost always go with a higher rated filter than what your tank size is. Also depends if the tank is established or still cycling....
the tank is not even a week old... but i just did a 20% water change yesterday cause the ammonia was sky high and i dont want my oscar or red devil to die
Cloudy water while cycling can be expected, bacteria bloom. Hope this is a grow out tank for the oscar...you need a lot more filtration. A cycled tank should show no ammonia, but you will probably need to do a lot of water changes to keep things under control with those fish, tank size, and filtration.
Not enough water flow through the mechanical & biological filters. What does your test kit/strip say the water levels are?
A 20G long tank really should have at least a 20G filter on each end, due to the shape. A single filter wont really do it unless its rated closer to 50G, and even then you need a powerhead to keep things equalized. I run an AquaClear 50 & a Whisper 10i (biomax only) on my 20G long with a powerhead. Everyone you find on here overfilters. Its just common sense. If a 20G filter is 18 bux & a 40G filter is 20 bux, you should go ahead and get the bigger one.

Like everyone else said, the more filtration the better, especially for fish like oscars that produce a lot of waste. I kept a 3" one in a barebottom 10g for a week and found a ton of poop everyday so I did daily 40% water changes
