HELP PLECO ACTING ODD!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
L200s, and L128s both look good, and grow quite respectably. Any leporacanthicus will grow, and most look really nice. The list is huge.

Well there are many that will grow... I think you should check out Scobinancistrus aureatus, similar to a GN, and gets to a decent size too. They also can exhibit different colours, some have more orange in their fins than yellow.

Which is true about most plecos.

I'd just never put them as outgoing plecos, usually when you can see them, it's because they is no where for them to hide, or just a piece of driftwood that isn't big enough to create a real hiding spot. Unlike a pleco that reaches the same size such as a gibbiceps which are usually out and about most of the time, it's not until they're over about half their max size until you see them that regularly. It's even worse with the smaller species in the same genus. Guess it depends if your happy not seeing them much if you are growing them out or not, or not providing adaquate hiding spots during that time.

I don't have a fancy pleco. I know there are alot of beautiful species out there, but I was just beginning when I bought my "common" pleco about 7 years ago. He was about 2 inches when I got him and now he's about a foot. Love em. He's gorgeous in my eyes. It's crossed my mind to get another one but I'm not sure if I would want them in the same tank.

I had a 5" Royal but it was to messy, wood went in one end and out the other constintly but it was always out it lived on 30+" over turned peice of bogwood. Just want something fancy looking but not as messy now, gutted the GN wont grow there lovely looking fish, would look great at 5"+

If you like them, like I said the scobis are very similar and they will grow fairly large (not quite L025 though). Any plecos going to produce a large amount of waste, but yeah having minute pieces of driftwood everywhere can get tiresome.
