i have had a yellow with black lines cichlid in a tank with a pleco for 6 years in a 20 gallon tank. i have upgraded to a 46 gallon bow front. i purchased a peacock cichlid a bit smaller then the yellow guy, my local fish store guys told me they would be cool but the yellow one keeps chasing the peacock and cornering him what can i do to stop the agression ....................

Add rocks and more fish. The yellow one is probably an electric yellow cichlid. Can you post pics? The key thing with African's is add a bunch to the tank to spread out aggression and add rocks or make caves for them can use plant pots or pvc pips, but they need caves to have territories.

Most people don't keep mbuna with peacocks because mbuna are quite aggressive and territorial. I have seen it work okay before though.

Try rearranging the rocks and adding more hiding spots.

A well established larger mbuna will be very aggressive to the smaller peacock. 1st try and rearrange the rocks so the fish will establish new territory, 2nd get another 3 or 4 fish to spread the aggression.

Sounds like its a pseudotropheus crabro "bumble bee" or a melanochromis auratus. They can be very aggressive, I would suggest adding more tankmates to lessen the aggression towards that one peacock and add decorations
