EAC Dude
Hi, howdy, how are ya's. Glad to now be part of this incredible forum :cool-1: I've been A.C. member, among other local forum's for a short while now & after 25+ yrs. of being "deep" in this passion, I'm HOPEFULLY about to move to a 150 gal. or a 180 gal:drool:, the latter has my vote:headbang2but lets just say that there is a bit more than just slight opposition :nono: from very beautiful, sweet, kind, wonderful, loving person I share my life w/, no really it's all mostly true, lol. That was my CYA attempt in case she ever finds her way to this thread, LOL:ROFL: ok not to loud. My point is, I'm in the midst of trying to "sell" the idea, which she's more than a bit overwhelmed w/, I know a bit :screwy: , but what ya gonna do, actually I have a plan & that's where ya'll come in. I'm in DESPERATE need of some "good" pic's of 150 & 180 gal. TANK setup's, preferably w/ a bit of wall & or furniture for some "true" size perception, that make the tank's look, not small of course, but not as huge as they can look in the right or wrong light, angle etc. Which I know is not as easy as it sound's, been searching for a while now & found a couple, but I'm sure there are plenty excellent 1's right under my nose. The tank's I've found posted are all beautiful, don't get me wrong, but w/ a bare/near empty tank, plus a huge stand & canopy etc. & a 5'4" person standing next to it on a bare wall, well I'm sure you get the "picture". I really don't want to have to take her to our closest LFS for an example, cause all their tank's, as gorgeous as they are, they're also set up w/ everything & then some making them appear 45% or so bigger, plus their empty, which in my opinion a loaded/packed FW or SW tank just doesn't seem as HUGE. I have no intention of purchasing anything more than a straight forward FW tank, stand, lid, light's etc. The fish & aquascaping will take all the glory, which is how it's always been w/ all my tank's & it's currently what the bank account dictates. Really glad to be among such MONSTER KEEPER'S & I look forward to any & all the help ya'll can hook me up w/.

Also, thought I'd share, down in Houston TX, till June 2nd, Aquarium World is having their 10th Annual sale, here's the link (http://www.aquariumworld.net/coupon1.htm), in case anyone is close by or willing to drive. I've never done business w/ them personally so I would love to hear what any of ya'll's experience w/ them has been. Over the phone they quoted me a totally sick:WHOA: deal on a tank, stand etc. set up, but this will be for a EXTREMELY SHORT TIME ONLY, so it goes w/out saying. I'm VERY strongly considering making the drive dwn, yes even w/ the price of gas, from Dallas, if I successfully wear her dwn, I mean "convince" her it's all good. So pic's, pic's, pic's please & I will gladly be your best new MONSTER friend for a long time, lol :grinno:

And for those thinking it, yes, I could & have built my own stand's in the past, but thing's have changed in the last few yrs. & as painful as it is to admit, I'm not physically able to do so any more, which yes really s***k's, but it could always be sooo much worse. Just to clear that part up for anyone wondering. So enough of that & on to the future :) By the way as long as this post is, shouldn't it count as my M.A. required 1st 5????????:D

Thanks again & glad to be in the company of such MONSTER'S :naughty:

dont mean to burst your bubble or anythin, but the only good deal you will find there are the tanks for a dollar a gallon and its just the tank (no lids, lights or anything).. everything else in my opinion are over priced. how much did they quote you for? there are other lfs in the area that have way better deals.

Thank you for your response fishingaddict. They quoted about $950 for a 180 gal., tank, stand, lid & light, that's w/ tax included, which is about $350 less, on a "good" day, than anything here in the Dallas area, so as you can see my curiosity was more than a bit peaked when I got the price quote. I assumed that w/ the size of the store, price's may be a bit high, but I just can't touch this level of setup for anywhere near that around here. So by all means, if anyone can recommend a direction otherwise I am very interested, because as I mention I don't have much time at all to line something for sure up.
Anyone reading this please, please, please point me, if you can in the dir. of some good pic's as described in the original post. Not that I know all there is, never will & would never want to appear arrogant in anyway, but after 25+ yrs. raising fish I rarely find myself in real need of serious help, but where the topic's in my original post are concerned, I REALLY, REALLY need as much help as possible. I'm currently as close as I get to being on my knee's begging for help. So thank you all so much for all & any input & all your support:)
Sincerely thank ya'll again so much for your help & consideration!!! :):):)

Now all the rest of you, see how EASY that was, so feel free, PLEASE, the flood gates are open & my future MONTER play time happiness could very well DEPEND on the rest of you, who I know can help this, need to be MONSTER, out. You know what you could do :headbang2 & what could happen if you don't do  so I ask, do you really want that on your conscious, no I didn't think so. Glad we settled this, aren't you? :grinno:

Thanks again all :)

price wise.. your standard 125g tank stand lids and lights run for around $430. and for your pic request, heres a pic of my 210 (looks small in the pic).

Yep, yep, that's pretty much the price range he was quoting me between $425-445 for a 125 set up as you described it, about $650-675 for a 150 set up & about $975-1000 for a 180. Like I mentioned that's on average 30%-45% less than any LFS up here can quote me & I've been on this now for almost a yr. So at this point unless someone knows someone, who is willing to help a bratha in need, I don't think I can slap this horse in the mouth. Just have to convince my other half that it's not as horrible as it sound's, there's no real understanding of cubic inches, cubic feet & how it relates to gals. per surface. Having my last 75 up right now I can't even get her to envision just 12" additional on each end, 6" more depth & 6" more high, but what ya gonna do, well damn sure not give up. I'll keep ya posted as to who still swimmin in the river after the FLOP. God please let it be me, LOL.
Again ,thank you so much for sharing, it could just make the difference. I'm over in the Photo Lounge right now, have been for DAY'S, just a huntin, so keep your finger's crossed for. Later:D :D :D
