Help fast!!

I noticed today that they were doing some body wagging, it was quite vigorous. Sometimes they will swim near each other fine, but then body wag a bunch then stop. But also, they have been biting or pushing each other with their lips a little bit, and when they are facing each other they try and lip lock

I need to know if I should divide them before one gets hurt, or if this is just a fight for dominance between 2 males disputing territory as its a new tank setup, of its a serious fight, or breeding behavior and I do perhaps have a female.

Reason I say perhaps is if you've been following my sexing thread you will see that we are iffy on the sec of one of them.

The big male started biting it and chasing it away from its little corner and I wasn't comfortable with it so I divided them up. Now they have a nice view of each other through a divider

jack r weird like tht, they don't harras too much imo, they aren't as in ur face as say a devil/midas/jag or butti but they r VERY defensive, they like to sit comfortably in a spot unless eating and they will tag the SH** out of ongoing fish. mine takes scales off other fish here and there but I find its almost never a BIG problem, try to make some good territories wer they feel safe cuz wen they feel threatened they become stressed n all tht then the bad behavior/fighting comes out n u see the reason why they got ther name

So they would be fine going back together? This is what the setup looks like, the whole tank is divided, convict pair far left and jacks in the 2 to the right. It's a 55. On the other side is my small pair on convicts. About a third of the jacks which are 5+". Would putting them with the convicts be safe. Using the convicts as dithers a little to tone down aggression.

They jumped the divider and got back together. They seem do be doing fine so I will leave them. They are back to following each other everywhere. Since so many people have told me they are both male I guess they are just being friends and not a pair :(
