Okay so I was sealing the crack in my tank and I noticed this. should I be able to do this? Im pretty sure I shouldnt be able to... what should I do? can I try and put 100% silicone inbetween the glass and frame and clamp it and see if itll hold???

You will probably have to replace that piece of glass... What ever you do on a crack that big will be temporary

its not cracked thats a piece of aluminum between the frame and glass i put some silicone and clamped it down hopfully it will fix is with it being clamped over night

There shouldn't be any aluminum between the frame and the glass.

duh I no I put it the to see how big the gap was. not to be mean but it was just to see the gap space.

Some of my tanks have gaps between the trim and glass- I've never had any issues with mine. And I sometimes just use silicon and squirt it up there so that there's not longer a gap. So far so good.

I mean, if you think about it, it can't be super tight because of the glass needing to flex, and you would never be able to get the trim on with silicon if it was already made to fit on the tank tight.
