I had this same problem with some of my old rays I think it's a bacterial infection, You need to add salt get pond test kit that tests for salt water levels in a fresh water pond. Slowly raise the level to 3.0 over 48 hrs and get the temp to 84-86 degrees. I lost one ray to this and saved another. Better do this fast and ow yeah i've seen it spread to another ray in the same tank. Mike

If you get a good look at the eye there will be blood in there is the eye completely filled yet? It could burst the clear outer lense and it will heal back if the rays makes it. The one ray that survived had some eye damage but I dont think it went blind.

Thank you just did the salt both tank ,get the test kit in the morning ,and yep eye is full of blood

Wow, I had this happen to my 7" retic a month ago when I missed a water change. Mine its eyes actually kinda sunk(like the clear layer was missing) then looked normal and then had a tiny bit of blood in it, but cleared up in two days. Good thing I know what to do now.
