I have had my 7" royal for about 4 months now and it has been totally fine until about 2 weeks ago when I noticed it was starting to turn a white color. I thought it might be ich so I have treated the tank 3 times now with jungle labs tablets for fungus and ich and also quick cure but it doesn't seem to be working. I have also tried increasing the water temp and adding salt but no luck there.

The royal still eats but is losing a ton of its color and appears to be turning white all over.

What could this be if it is not ich??

I am starting to get desperate...

i believe it's bacterial or fungal infection. probably should clean gravel and do 25% water changes a week. Its probably due to a ammonia spike.

I'm sorry but adding treatments without even the certainty of your diagnosis is a BIG mistake. I'm surprised your pleco still handled the harsh treatments. Could you please post before and after pics of your pleco?

Fungal infection? I doubt it. Fungal infections are very rare to begin with and should be characterized by cottony growth. The OP never described it as cottony growth. Bacterial infection? Possibly. But what other symptoms does it exhibit? Fish infested with bacterial infection will have white poop, swim listlessly, have labored breathings and lack of appetite.

How big is the tank?
What other fish do you have in the tank?
Temperature?
What do you feed them?
Filtration?
Water change schedule? How much water is changed?
