End of my rope
My four year old oscar has gotten sick and I don't know what to do. All the other fish are fine. There's little bits of her tail missing and she has what looks like a round sore on her anal fin. It looks like it gets bigger every day. She just lays on the bottom now and won't eat. Her mate is standing guard for her. IMG_20111223_171622.jpg

are there any bigger and more powerful tank mates

I think a parasite is eating her from the inside out get a parasite medicine

There's a big arowana but she usually beats on him. Any specific medicine? will it be dangerous for the other fish? OMG it's a 300g tank it's gonna cost a fortune. think i can put her in a 10 gallon to treat her? Maybe a rubbermaid container with an air stone.

yea a 10 gallon is fine for a couple days get a medacene that treats parasites

I wouldn't do a 10gallon i would do a 30gallon.... or a 40gallon to treat her...

hows her breathing? I have to agree with the parasite being the cause. I would toss her in atleast a 20 gallon and nothing less with lots airation

I put her in a 30g round rubbermaid with my old FX5 I had lying around. I set the temp to 82, salted the water and put some melafix to sooth the sores. The nearest LFS didn't have meds for internal parasites only external so I held off on that. I do have some quick cure in my cabinet if you think that would be ok.

Sounds like all is going good, now just wait and see if she recovers. You should also not feed her when she is sick, she will most likely not accept the food and you'll be wasting it. Fish can also go days and weeks without food
