Help selecting catfish.

I will need a group of cats for a 540 gallon soon. I like the spotted pictus(sp?) and lots of the synodonis but something in the 12-14" range would be better. Preferable something active during the day. Any ideas?

Lima shovelnose get a bit bigger than that but they would be a good choice and if you get a few they will, or should school together. Plus they seem to be pretty active during the day.

What other type of fish are you looking to keep? Also what are the dimensions of the tank, and how limited is your budget for fish? There are so many awesome choices out there.

The tank is 8'x3'x'3. Other fish will include an arowana, royal knife, green terror, red terror(if one in the grow out tank ends up a female), possibly a large fire eel, and some other odds and ends. The budget is somewhat limited, however, if I find something I like, I'll find a way.

I don't think I would call that a community tank. And I can't have plecos in a plywood tank. Thanks anyway.

So do you want a community tank?? How about oxydoras niger, Giraffe, Sun catfish. I know these are bigger than 12 - 14 inch but i think you'll need fish bigger than that if your going to keep them with an arowana.
