help setting up ocean clear filters

for some reason, i cant set these two up properly (models 354 and 340), i think im not placing the o ring properly as its leaking. is the cover supposed to cover the o ring, or is the o ring supposed to be sandwiched between the cover and the filter body? they are currently both hooked up to a mag drive external pump , any input would be helpful-both are leaking, so i think im doing something wrong instead of it being a defect.

the instruction manual is not very helpful

i don't know the filter can you post a pic of the cover and filter body separated or
the illustration that came with the box...
or just wait for someone who has one.
