help sex my green severums

Never had severums before these two.. but since i have owned them really like them and thinking about breeding them if i am lucky enough to have a pair.. thanks for help.

agree with jca, the 1st one looke like a female. mm

To Sex a green ..... males have a colorful series of striations surrounding their mouth, forehead, cheeks ..... females are more unifirmly colored in that area cant see to well from pics but 2nd one is to small at the Mo.

The larger severum is about 3 or 4 inches and the other is no more then 3 inches.. I was thinking of putting them in their own grow out tank.. they eat very well and get along with all the african cichlids but maybe they would do better alone.. really crazy about them so if they were a pair it would be wonderful.. but great that at least one is probably female..because i can always get a male later..thanks for the info..

It looks to me they are both females. My male is about 4-5" now and he has VERY long sweeping fins. Both his anal and dorsal fins go well past his tail. My female's fins are not nearly as long and are rounded at the ends.

EDIT: Cancel that....The second one looks like a male..A side veiw pic would be great. As the first one is definatly a female, compare their fins and tell us if you can see any differences. Mine were obvious until about 3-3.5"

i would say that you have one female and one male.

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats great.. now i have to learn how to breed, what age or size are they mature.. i am sooooo happy..
