I just recently bought 2 WC red terrors as a pair..but I noticed that the so called female has a handful of blue freckles on her fins doesn't that indicate a male???my male is covered in the freckles but I'm just curious about it and wanna se what u guys think.
An few examples for you to compare
Below is a female, note the way the irridecent spots are arranged around the dark caudal spot. Also the dark area in the dorsal
below a male, note how differently his iridescent markings are arranged around the dark caudal spot.
males also normally have a much steeper profile

Yeah I'm really hoping it's female...so really you sex a red terror by the dorsal fin??dark colors in dorsal fin the fish definitely has that.just gonna keep my fingers crossed....
Definitely look like a male and female to me. Females don't tend to have sparkles on the body, as
duanes pics show. You will know for sure when they get a bit bigger. The males change colour as they get older and turn a beautiful shade of yellow/orange. They are stunning fish, and it's lovely to watch them grow up and change into their adult colouration.
If your worried about them pairing, in my experience they don't tend to breed at a young age. Mine are 1-2 years old roughly, I got them at around 1", my female is now around 7" and my male is around 6", and although they flap at each other and display a fair bit of 'courting', they have never spawned, thankfully. My female tends to bully the crap out of my male half the time, then the rest of the time she displays at him!
