Ok all you pike experts I need help, could you tell me if this is a female Atabapo II. It is to my understanding that a female Atabapo II will have a small grouping of dots in the middle of her dorsal fin. The last picture is the best shoot I could take of her displaying her dorsal fin. Thanks for the help. I know they are not the best pictures, but I hope this does the job.

That deffinately looks like a small row of dots to me!

Yes they look like spots to me too lol. Does anyone know if these are the spots that the females have on there dorsal fin?

mine didn't have anything like that, so i'd venture to says yours is a female and mine was a male.

Bump> Anyone else have any input on the sex of this fish?

100% female. :) Congrats!!! Thats exactly what mine looked like at that stage, as they get older the spots will start to get larger and fuse together. Looks really cool! I'll try to get some updated shots of my male and female together.

Btw...still ahead of the HITH with those guys? Hope so. I'm still battling it with mine. . . .

Thanks for the help Peanut; I am now able to say that I have two females and one male. Let me tell you I try to keep the ph 5-6-6.5 the temp at 83 and the water at a tea color. Every time I feed them or do a water change they get this brilliant red/maroon color to them. Even with the water having a dark brown tint to it you could still see how bright and bold the red really is. Because the tank is so deep I can’t get the proper light on the fish to get a great picture to illustrate exactly what I am talking about. I hope to get some time this weekend and get some new pictures of them up.

Cool!!! I am curious to see the red as well!!! Mine are actually starting to get some red on them as well, bright, bold red! Its really cool and exciting! Their tear drops have turned a crimson red as well. I just need to get this HITH taken care of and drop the pH, might actually get some good color from them! :)

Looking forward to the pictures for sure!! Don't hold back! :D
