Help sexing dovii

Hi,

I needed some help sexing a dovii I am looking to buy.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Netting a fish and stressing it out is counterproductive to determining its sex based on looks, the stress of all this will change its color. If I had to guess with as prominent as the horizontal black bar and the stockier size of the fish, I’d guess female. A picture of it in an aquarium where it’s at ease would yield better guesses at visually determining its sex.

Its looking female, but its hard to tell the way you did it. Males have "spangling or sparkles" on the unpaired fins.

Understood. The breeder sent me this picture. Let me see if I can get a better one
 
I would vote female also, but it is a tough call with it out of water. It does have a bit of purple on it, so it may look male when not stressed.
