I need help sexing my green terror it's about 6" long, and I cannot figure it out. I don't want to stress the fish by pulling it out to vent and am hoping the experts here can help thanks in advance.

The body markings, the light bearding, the thicker orange band on the tail, and the elongated pointed dorsal is a dead giveaway that it's a male.

Not to mention body shape is slender which is another male trait.

I've seen plenty of females that look like that with thick tail banding and pointed dorsal.
The only reason I say male is the elongated body shape.Too be fair I'm only guessing.I don't find anything definite regarding that fish but still suspect a male.

Looks like a sub dominate male to me.
It is quite a tricky one though.

The funny thing is he is the dominant one in the tank, no one messes with him and what he wants he gets. Even my 4" jag and 5" jack Dempsey stay away from him at all times

Maybe Frank is right and it's a dominant female.
Sure is a tricky one.

I have been 100% sexing green terrors from a young age. The females seem to get a little "bump" before males. Males seem to get pretty big before there is any sign of genitalia at all. Anyone else notice this? Or am I spending too much time looking at fish junk?
