i know it's probably too soon to tell, but one day i really want to have a successful spawn. Give it your best guess

EBJD's are hard to tell honestly, you pretty much have to watch for the vent to drop. The regular Dempsey appears to be female by the coloring on the face and lack of it on the body. If you have one of each, you'll know soon. They look to be about the size they'll try and spawn at.

i'm glad you guys think the 2nd is a female. I went down to the lfs this morning and picked her up, hoping she was. As for the ebjd, i've read most of them are male? Myth?.
I was also kinda going off the long fins fins too. i'll keep my fingers crossed.

My regular female Dempsey has real pointed fins while my male EBJD has almost rounded fins. I think that's a myth and not a sure fire way to tell. If they're male and female you'll know in time. Watch for the EBJD to start shaking at the other and "kiting" at the other. If that starts happening, watch for breeding tubes to drop.

Ha he started within the first 30 mins with the "tailwhipping". He also does alot of that with my cuban?
i'll keep a good eye on him.

too young imo..but im guessing both female
