I know most of the time you expect pictures well I CAN'T GET A CLEAR PICTURE lol. I took 63 pictures and each one was blurred, or just no fish in the picture because it took off right before the picture took. I can't get any pictures. Well I bought 4 "small" jd 1 month ago for my 55gal. My intentions were to wait until I get a pair and then get rid of the others .Well my only lfs decided he will not take the fry if they mate. So now I will just keep a male. Well...they are starting to fight some and i'd like to pick the one i'm going to keep and get rid of the others ASAP. Now how to tell which is a male? There is one that is WAY bigger than the rest and "it" seems very dominant during feeding and territory. It has little blue dots under the eye and LOTS of blue from the back of the eye and on back. None of them have blue under the jaw area. They seem to all have blue at the same spot but this one "big" one has lots of blue.

Also maybe you can give me tips on taking pictures also. I would really rather just show some pics as you would rather also lol

best way to tell, females have coloration/spangles all through there jaws and gills. males might have some spangling but it wont be as much and wont cover the entire gill plate.
if neither have blue in the jaw area i would say they are bth males.

Best way to tell when there small is by the amount of spangles they have ( the colorful spots on there sides ) when young ( 1''-1.5'' ) niether sex has alot of coloration on there gill plate but males will have some coloration on there sides while females usually have very little color when young

well 3 have very little blue spangling down the side compared to thie 1....and this 1 looks beautiful already, lots of blue down the body.

well i try well lit room but tank light of and a flash, also tilt the camera at an angle so the flash doesnt reflect on the glass. u can also try tank light on dark room with no flash. patience is also helpful , dont get to snap happy, a camera with a fast shutter speed would also help.

oh jeez! j/k my phone can actually take better picture than my 8mp camera...crappy camera! just patience really. to get good shots it might take a good 30min

spangles man, look at them spangles, also males are generaly larger than females....
