Help Sexing my Red Devil

Hey guys, my Red Devil is acting strange. It has been guarding in particular side of the tank and has been digging the sand down to the glass. It seems to be trying to lay eggs, though I'm not sure. I noticed that there is a tube like structure that is swollen under the abdomen. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Is it male or female?image.jpg image.jpg

I'm just gonna be honest and tell you I don't know 100%, though if I'm remembering correctly I thought they had a general purpose "anus" similar to reptiles that combined the functions of getting rid of waste and reproduction.

I may also be way off base!! Someone with some fish anatomy experience please help!
 
funny, my male iguana had 2 penises. so he could mount from either side. they are called hemi (sp)penises.

if she is spawning i would say female as the males tube points forward as the females is a tube that lays back for dropping the eggs.

this looks more like a plug coming loose pre-spawning.
