My friend has 2 blood parrots. They both get along. They originally just had 1 bigger one then added 3 more. The original one was only an inch larger that the others and it killed off 2 of them and then fought abit with the surviving one but it fought back and now they get along.

Neither have ever laid eggs according to him. I'm curious if they are male and female and that is why they get along? As two males wouldn't work aswell nor 2 females?

Only real way to know is to vent them. It's not that hard. Just catch em, flip em over and look at their ovipositor. It's located below the anus. If it's U shaped and theres a clearish jelly looking thing on it, most likely its a female. Males will have a V shaped vent and won't have that jelly like flesh thing there. Hope this helps.

You can also just look at the tube from the side shot while they are swimming. The females will have a fatter tube that's always hanging out, not as in she ready to lay, but just normally. The males tube will not as thick and just smaller in comparison, this way you don't have to remove from the tank. Post some pics if you can.
