It's around 4.5 inches. I don't doubt it, but are you certain? Also what are the signs to tell that it's a male at this size?(Asking for knowledge).
See the blue dots on each scale, and in the unpaired fins? That is a male only trait. Females don't have this.

As seen above. The males in the background has the blue spangles, like in your picture. The female don't have these spangles. Also see the dark mark in her dorsal fin, that is a female only trait. This is there breeding dress.
Here is a male in had for a bit solo.
As with the other ones you can see the blue spangles. Now you can see his black stripes can go into his dorsal, but they don't darken the whole front half of it.

I'd have to disagree with my experience. I had a grow out of 10 where 2 females which grew bigger than males at faster pace, push the others to corners on the other side of a 6ft tank.
