Las Vegas
I don't even want to say what I did. I'm a bone head! I forgot to close the hose thingy on my canister after I shut it off and it started back syphoning and leaked out the canister.

I have about 3 maybe 5 gallons of fish water on my (carpeted) floor. I've used a shop vac and tons of towls to soak it up. The water shouldn't be that dirty because of the daily water changes I've been doing this past week because I'm removing my gravel. I have fans blowing on it right now. I would like to add I live in Las Vegas and its really hot...at least 100+ degrees. I keep the ac at 82.

I'd really hate to call Serv Pro because they are expensive and because all my fish would have to go to the quarntine tank. It is way to small for them. Can't throw them in the 135 because its about to cycle.

Edit..The wet spot is about 2'x5'

My brother had a washing machine leak like 20 gallons of water into the carpet one time. He used one of those Rug Dr. Vacuums you can rent at the grocery store to get it out. It seemed to work pretty well.

yeah, i had a 40G tank bust on the second floor of my appartments. the downstair neighbore was an old lady, who said it was the most excitement she's had all month:ROFL:. she was cool about it. you can pull your carpet up enough to fit one of those vacuum things under it, and it will be dry in a day.:)

its just water. let the fans do the work focus on doing something else. it will dry and you'll never know and no one else will as long as you don't tell. i spill on a regular basis and never has it stained.

Just shop vac it and put a couple fans infront of it. Once it dries you can Rug Dr. it like it was mentioned. Should be alright though. I've had about 15 gals on my floor before....as long as you clean it up and get up as much as you can, should be alright. ;)

Thats why most of us keep our tanks on bare, concrete floors preferably....;)

you should be ok... get it dry with a shop vac and fans.. then get it with the carpet cleaner... the most important thing is to get it dry under the stand...

its not just water.. its fishtank water... its perfect for growing funk.. but if you get it dry you should be alright

i had a 10 gallon break back in the day just bloated it up with towels and it was fine

Just try to dry it anyway you can, by shop vac, fans, towels, etc... Even if it was clean water, sometimes carpets will get a funky, mold like odor after it's dry because just because the waters clean, your carpet will still have bacteria in it that will cause it to smell. Make sure your carpet and bottom are completely dry then sprinkle baking soda over the entire area and give it a good layer of the baking soda. You can't use too much baking soda. Let it stand for about 1 hour and then vacuum. The odor should be gone, but remember, the carpet has to be completely dry. Don't spend money on deodorizing carpet cleaner because it's just baking soda with scent to cover up the smell. Again, remember, the carpet has to be completely dry before sprinkling the baking soda. The Doctor.

Ive spilled lots of water. Just get it as dry as you can right away with a shop vac or carpet cleaner. After its dry hit it with the carpet cleaner again.
