SVK MOTHER QUAKER
Hello,
I recently got 6 8 inches red belly piranhas, introduced them to my new tank seem to be exhausted from the car ride home, no symptoms other than one was upside down in the bucket. I put them in and one was up side down after an hour or so. I just assumed a piranha bite its fin off or damaged it. Latter in the morning I noticed all the them breathing on the top of the tank to get oxygen consistently, I immediately rushed to petsdmart did a little research and found out something about swim bladder and ammonia. 3 of them died by the time i got home :(. I got 12 gallons of pure water from the water store and did the water change in my 55 gallon. the tree fish seem to get healthier until i discovered the main fish i was recording is swimming upside down! same symptoms of the other 3 fish! I put around 6 teaspoons of salt in the tank, some prime, bacteria, stress coat, water conditioner, ammonia remover. I am extremely sad and bummed out because I instantly fell in love! I am willing to do anything, please help me recover my three fishes and ill donate 30 dollars via paypal, money isnt an issues since I already invested some much in these fish :( Thank you so much!

Here is a video I uploaded on youtube:

Have you cycled the tank?
Do you have surface agitation or air stones to oxygenate the water? If there at the top they are not getting enough oxygen or the water is so bad its just toxic soup. Tank looks filthy.

The one you are recording has a pretty cloudy eye. Did they act fine from where you got them? Do you have a test kit? If so what are your parameters?

Stop adding stuff until you figure out your problem. Just add clean water with a conditioner if your on city water.

I cycled the tank about for 5 days removed the fish and tank was left there standing still about 1 month and a half, i have a fluval fx5 running atm, i test the water with an api master test kit i put and ammonia results are clear? not even yellow, i read somewhere it is beacuse of prime possibly, ph level is around 7.6-7.8

Sounds and looks like your tank is not cycled. Follow the instructions exactly on your test kit. Check for Nitrite, Ammonia, and Nitrate.

I would start with daily 50% water changes until your ammonia goes away. Test your water daily.

cycling a tank takes longer than 5 days. With out fish waste its not going to cycle properly. The month fishless probably screwed up everything. It looks like there is rotting plant debris everywhere? What do your nitrates and nitrites test out at? all the rotting vegetation is going to ruin your water quality. If its all over the tank im sure your filter is packed full. I would do water changes, clean up everything including filter and get everything balanced meaning your nitrates/nitrites/ammonia. Piranha are very messy. How many are left? A 55 is just a stepping stone to a larger tank imo. I am running 3 canister filters and I have to have an airs tone running all the time.

I am getting 8 more gallons to cycle it through and remove 8 more gallons, i put a small air pump with a stone in mean while, power head got out of balance, and yeahh i regret not cycling it more. I am trying clean up the plant debris as I speak, nitrates and nitires test at 0, ill test again with the new water settles down. I clean the canister yesterday and will do so again. and 3 piranhas are left.
