i just recently got a free redtailed boa, and i noticed that it had some sort of breathing problem, a cold or something, when it breathes you can hear a crackle, but now i think its getting worse, Every time he takes a breath he puffs out his neck like hes gasping for air, and takes a deep breath, i dont know if its just some type of snake cold, or a Respiratory Infection, I am getting worried and dont know what to do. does anyone know anything i could do to possibly help this snake get through this, i really am trying to make the vet a last call, so any suggestions, heat, conditions, substrate, medication, etc?????? anything will be greatly appreciated.

1. Make sure his tank is warm enough.

2. Call a vet NOW. It is a good idea to know your herp vet before you need his or her attentions.

3. Do a Google search on BOID disease. Hopefully it is a respitory infection, and not something worse....

I rescue snakes and it a respirotory infection. Only way he has any chance of recovery is with intravenous antibiotics. Thats vet stuff. All you can do is make sure he has high humidity and high temp, but this will kill him if you dont got ot eh vet.

it has RI

damn i was hoping it was only it cold, i guess a vet is inline for him now!
