just saw on one side of my tank its 180 glass. and the silicone is coming off looks like something chewed on it. should i be worred about it leaking or does it have enough silicone between the glass and the brace to hole the tank together?

It should have enough under the glass, But if it would make you feel better, just drain the tank, dry it off. and get rid of all the silicone on that area and re do it.

But it looks like it should be fine.

:iagree:
While youre at it inspect the rest of the tank too. Look for water "creep" between the glass.

It's not gonna be fine....

Your gonna have to drain, cut off all silicone with razer blade...

Clean off area with acetone/alcohol, and apply new silicone....

This is just a disaster waiting to happen if you leave it alone!

Aquarium companies, aren't in the habit of adding a bead of silicone along the inside seams for the hell of it!

Silicone pulling away from the glass is one of the key things I look for to determine if a tank needs resealed. It's really a judgement call at this point...A simple patch job might well hold...and then again...

Personally I'd reseal the entire tank and have a little cheap peace of mind.

I made the mistake and thought it would be ok and caused a chain of events that sucked. Your lucky to have caught it now so plan to spend a weekend breaking the tank down, cleaning, scraping, gluing and getting high (fans are your friends). If nothing else that peace of mind will be worth it. Imagine the damage 180g of water could do...

Deffinatly time to re seal I do it all the time and have had 100% sucess.

Best to do the job right, strip the entire inside of the tank and reseal all joints with new silicone. Only takes a couple hours and costs about 20 bucks.
