It's hard to believe but my RTC is a light eater always has been but he just got over a little problem but he's doing good now but he's under weight and it takes him along time to build up weight so my ????? is what is the best food to feed just to put weight on and still relatively healthy I was thinking like beef heart ,beef liver, chicken liver, cooked chicken or maybe even leaner pork but I really don't know what would put the weight on the fastest and still be safe ???
I feed him medium African cycloids that don't make the cut and massivore pellets, krill and cooked cocktail shrimp but he doesn't gain weight from these he'll only eat 5 little pellets or like 4 little shrimps . then he acts full but hes not gaining weight just growing longer he's like 19 to 20 inches.
Do I give him a big mac or what???????

That's what I'm saying it's like an olson twin it eats two bites a day and then tuners it head. I had it at 81 now its at 83 degrees but little change in its feeding I offer it all kinds of crazy things to eat and in endless amounts but it's not so much what it eats as is how much it eats a little while back it eat a larger amount at one sitting and puked up and gave it self burns from pollution but it healed in a week no problem but ever sense it eats like a little girl. so any fatty food suggestions would be helpful big macs and chesse curds??????

I fed it 3 to 4 inch african ciclhlids but it will only eat 1 every 4 days and roseys are way to small it dosen't even try for little fish I swiched its feeding to about 10 differant things and this not what it eats its the amount

have you tried massivore pellets from hikari? i've never seen a catfish that won't eat its body weight in those!

also, maybe i'm wrong, but 81-83 sounds a little warm ??

when it comes to feeding i would stay away from things like chicken and pork, i would stay with things like prawns and other fish base foods, your RTC will be able to break it down better and quicker.

try something like salmon, or any type for fresh fish (uncooked) cut it up into chunks and if he takes it, keep making the chunks a bit bigger each time!

good luck
