one of the many wonders
Hi, I'm new here, so for those that have knowledge that is beyond me be nice.

I just ordered 2 6" silver arowanas online, problem is they didn't have any and instead of informing me they sent me 4 3" today. So now I'm stuck with 4, which is awesome but they all still have the egg sac attach and I can't really return them. Had 3 before but I got them when they where around 8" so yeah. Couldn't really find much on how to raise them from that young. Only that the water must be calm and just be a little more careful with the water levels and temp.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience on how to care for these. If there are anything special I had to pay attention too or is it the same as raising them without the egg sac.Like can I feed them yet??? Or do I wait till the egg sac is gone.

i hope you find some help i really do just that i didnt own an aro so sry but i think you should at least see if they eat i mean if there hungry then they will eat so ya i think that is common sense but i hope you have fun with your babies!!!1

Don't have to feed them till their egg sacks are absorbed. Once absorbed, you can feed them a diet of small FD krill and Frozen worms.

My aro started eating gutloaded crickets very shortly after the egg sacks absorbed. I'm just now getting him off the live food. I say if they're hungry feed them. Aros can eat up to 3 times a day until they are about 6"

The good news about saced babies is from my research/talking w/ lfs. Is they often will take to pellets and prepared diets really easy. I've also been told live pinhead crickets will stimulate feeding once the sac is absorbed. I'de just watch out for trauma to the sacs and infection. and once they start eating... feed feed feed... my guy from 2.5" to about 5" could eat 3-5 times a day and still look somewhat emmaciated... he grew that much in the past 1.5 -2 monthes. he's now starting to flesh out at 6" and not be so rabid about eating, but still likes to be fed 2-3 times a day.
