Hi all. a week or so ago i lost my superspot, she was fine and feeding but developed a white patch on the end of her tail, i though nothing of it and put it down to the rays scrapping, then it got marginally worse so i treated with pima and melafix which by all accounts is ray safe she healed up but then died. Now my female marble has developed sores on the front part of the underside of her disk, they look pretty nasty. No new fish have been added for over a year all parameters are fine and the substrate has been the same for the last 4 years the tank gets 50%water change weekly. What could be causing this and how is best to treat it. I cannot stomach losing another ray!

Thanks Angus

Sorry to hear.. this... I can only suggest in the future may be doing two waterchanges a week.
I doubt you'll ever find out why.. especially if your water parameters are tip top. Do u have amy pics?

Sorry to hear that, was the pima melafix indate ? Apart from the white stuff on tail of your superspot did it have any sores anywhere else ?

Problems like these are usually results of poor water conditions. I would recommend 25% waterchanges every day for a week and see if it helps

no other sores were present on the superspot and yeh the treatments were indate. Water params are ph.6.8 GH.6 kh.7 ammonia.0 nitrite.0 nitrate.15ppm. its a 1000 liter system that now holds 2 fish with a 30 gal sump and 1500gph of turnover, so i have no idea what if anything in that water is causing poor quality. However i have nothing to lose so i will give it a go!
