Can anyone help me!!!!!!, i have four stingrays , two males , two females, both the females are infected with some kind of fungal disease, sorry dont have pictures but the infection is around the disc, it looks like a heater burn, kind of white (like dead ) , the problem is that they arent eating and they are swimming freely around the tank, they were always searching for food on the bottom and swimming on the bottom. Please help me, does Melafix help???

here are some pics, i have 4 stingrays, three of them ( 1 male disc size. 6´, 2 fems d. 4´and 5´) i think they are the ones callled teacup stingray (smooth back river stingray,), and the other is a male P. Orib. d size. 7´the thing is that i think even if the male is constantly bitting them they wouldn´t refuse to eat and they are. Sorry if the pics are a bit fussy

the pictures above were taken the same day on the same ray , kind of sad....... don´t you think!!!!! is it contagious???? again sorry for the pics not very good.

NO SALT IN A RAY TANK PLEASE!!!!!!!

my husband thought the same thing, IF you do add salt, dilute it and then add it to the water, it will burn the rays skin!!!!! mine had the same thing and it was due to salt being added in the water, finally peeled the skin and i lost him.
i will always hold that grudge against him for that. what are you feeding it? live-frozen? try to feed it live black worms (blood worms) or live ghost shrimp, just a little and see if it will eat, sometimes when ill they need that added live food. seems to work.
how are your water changes? frequent? try 50 percent like every 3 days or a lesser amount more often, it will help.
let me know how it works.

again i totally disagree with adding salt of any kind. sorry. i have had my rays for over 4 years, this thing seems to go away, at least for me, and the above is all i have done. i have not seen it in a long time

I have the ross book also. i also am a personal friend of mr andrew comoens!! he is in the ross book! i am not a beginer by anymeans.

if you do the salt, take caution, the h20 changes help i am sure, did you keep your filters running while doing a salt treatment?

my advice was given, i will ad this, if you can't get them to eat live food, or cannot get any asap, try the salt, it worked for him, maybe it will work for you,
i can say that we did not pour it on the ray, thank you, i maybe blonde, not dumb.
it did burn the flesh. but that is only my experience. i have heard crazier things.
like i sd. it worked for him!

I have always used salt and i have tried it two ways, diluted and adding to the water in increment amounts and just plain dumping the rock salt directly in the tank. The salt has fallen on some of my rays but i have not seen the " burning of the skin " that you described.

i would dose the tank with esha 2000 its totaly ray safe
