so i got a 180 (6x2x2) and i need help stocking it.
so far i have:
2 oscars
1 silver arowana
1 clown knifefish
1 fire eel
1 ID shark
1 sun catfish
1 orange pike cichlid

Dont know how much room i have left but lets hear some recomendations anyway.

No don't put anymore fish in there. They'll all get to big. As you may know silver Arowanas can grow to 30'' or more. Fire EELS get to be huge as well. Oscars can get to be over 12'' clownknife near 20''. ID sharks can get near 2' or bigger. Get rid of the sun cat and pike and replace them with some ornate pims and a feifeng!

Think he means eventually. If these fish are all small then you have some time though.

What were you thinking for filtration? This will play a very big role in stocking.

i have a rena xp4, rated for 260 gallon aquariums

I agree. Max size issues aside, you are messing with some growth rates and temperments that just dont go together.
I would guess that your aro will serve as a nice piece of spaghetti for one of the oscars at least. If you are gonna keep big oscars and a silver aro together, IMO, the silver needs to be MUCH bigger. Fire eels can get harrassed by your tank inhabitants, and an CK is gonna need a HUGE spot to hide and mellow out in during the daylight hours.
All in all, I'd say dont get too attached to the aro or the eel while the are juveniles, and definately set up another large tank for the incompatable fish if and when they start to mature.

the oscars might not stay, but in the 180 there is only the 7 inch silver aro and the 2.5 inch oscars. the others will move in once they hit around 18 inches for the eel, and about 12 inches for the rest. by the then the aro will be substantially larger.

ya you should move the ck and aro will get to big in the long run. Also correct me if im wrong but dont id sharks get 26"+?
