Hi.
I am new to the forum and this is my second thread.
I just got a new 110 gallon tall tank and i was thinking in getting a dovii but i've been reading that they are highly aggressive and is not recommended to have tank mates.
So i was thinking about a buttikoferi and some tankmates if possible or since i am from honduras maybe some cichlids native from honduras.
I am pretty experienced in fish keeping but i have never kept cichlids before.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I want probably one big fish and a couple of small ones, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Butti are can be just as bad as dovii. They need to be alone as well.

If you've never kept cichlids before don't start out with the biggest and baddest right off the the bat. A nice Jack Dempsey, and some Convicts, maybe some small Cat's for that 110 would look pretty cool.

Maybe a chocolate cichlid or severum (super reds are really nice) or a pair of yellow acara . Rapps has very nice ones.

I wouldn't mix any other cichlids with the butti in a 4 foot tank.

I have 1 male Dovii in a 90 now. 120 coming soon. He does good in the 90 by himself, flys around the tank, constantly digging though. I've kept cichlids since my late teens, pushing 40 now. Just recently purchased a house, got plenty of room for tanks, and large cichlids now. I personally think a Dovii, ur Butti would be fine for a 110, but if you're new to cichlids, start with something like a JD, or Convict's. JD's and Cons are still some of my favorite cichlids. A 110 would be perfect for them in my opinion.

Probably safer to stock the tank for the adult size of the fish who knows if op will be able to get another tank down the road... jd, gt, choc, cons, acaras, could do well.... (not all together ) what about an oscar again rapps has very cool O's you should take a look www.tangledincichlids.com

A con and maybe one of the bigger fish mentioned would be cool

Or an acara and a severum would be nice.
I have a yellow acara and mainly bottom half of the tank fish. So it would be out of the sevs way
