i needed the forums help to stock my 125 that i just cleaned up cause i finally sold my diamondback terrapins. I wanted to do an aggressive predator cichlid tank, and i was thinking about maybe some big pike cichlid's but not sure which big ones are compatible. I already have a 7'' atabapo I , that is a beast, however now I need to fill my 125gal with some nice options. Mybe a mix of pike cichlids, and maybe a parachromis or cichla combo, let me know what you guys would do:nilly:

pikes are usually aggressive towards other pikes. so several pikes could make problems. its not to say that it cant be done. id look into some other SA cichlids like JD's ,firemouths, or GT. Peacock bass would also work but just keep in mind a 125 isnt big enough for a full grown pbass. id also keep something like SD's in there to spread out aggresion.

if the pike you have is aggressive, i'd suggest a few CA brutes. i was thinking a aggressive take in my 125g with a female RTM, female festae, and a cuban with a pike and some silver dollars. maybe a vieja. its be alot of color and not as aggressive as an all male tank

btw, only GTs are SA, firemouths and JDs are CA obsessions ;)

yeah thats cool imma find a pair of pike cichlids or maybe get one and mix it with CA Brute like a parachromis, but if I do get a pair of pike i would get male CA brutes:headbang2

clown loaches. not south american but i think they're a sweet. only problem is to get them big enough will cost $50 a piece most likely. and u need at least 4 id say to get the nice schooling effect.

i have a senegal bichir with one of my pikes. that could be another option.
