so i have this post in the general fish keeping forum and as that one states i recently "Rescued" a baby sturgeon(check it out for more details) and i need help, it seems as tho it is having trouble staying upright, it tilts form side to side and its butt is more boyant than the rest of the fish, much like when my bichirs have to fart, any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem is?

What are tyou keeping it in? "Rescuing" a baby sturgeon means keeping it in a pond, and a good size one. The problem seems to be a swim bladder disease.

by rescuing i mean i plan on nursing it back to health and then adopting it out to a fellow aquarist who has the neccesary space and knowledge needed to keep it in the long term, im currently keeping it in a 40 gallon rubber maid with 2 powerheads going for aeration and several bags of ice to during the day to keep the temperatures down, it was in a lfs that had them at tropical temps and with agressive cichlids and chaca chaca cats, they oringinaly had 15 and all but this one and one other that was too far gone died...... so i figured id save the one i can and attempt to give it a new lease on life.... im entirly aware of this fishes demandng conditions and housing size and a under no circumstances expecting to be able to house it forever, just till its eating and in good shippable condition, then he goes to his new home.

thast what i mean by "Rescuing"

It does sound like a bacterrial swim bladder infection, binox or Maracyn 2, together with a cool tank temp., 55-65 F if possible, should help. Also add a sponge filter if you have not done so.
