Howdy everyone. Here's the deal. I am thinking about selling all my p's and downsize to only 1 tank and start a pygo shoal (rbp, pirayas). It's a tough decision cuz It's hard to let all my p's go (5" Elongatus, 4" Compressus, 4 5" rbps). I am thinking about buying the shoal as juvis so I wanna watch them grow. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you

75 gallon for now than upgrade later on to 120+

The idea sounds nice.

I would try 4 caribas and 4 redbellies wich would be suitable as juv. for a 75gal and for a 120g as adults.

I wouldnt try piraya, because I you wanted to keep them the tank upgrade would nessesary have to be much more bigger.

We are talking that a full grown piraya would need at least 100 gal per fish for life.

Cheers.

Agree, piraya would be too large for 120g, you can probably house 1 full grown adult piraya in 120g comfortably but not a shoal. unless you want just one piraya and some reds the it might be ok but the tank may look a little over stocked because the piraya will be much larger.

caribes and reds would be the way to go if you want a mix shoal.

probably ok for like one year or so in the 75

Mmmm... lets see if you want 2 piraya and 2 reds you should be thinking to upgrade that 125 gal to a 300g. in some years.....
