help Temensis with HITH? or something else?

Hello to all the cichla keepers out there. i need some help

i recently aquired a temensis from a friend of mine. the bass has an issue with a wound on the side of his head im not shure what it is? hole in the head or something else?
my friend bought the bass a couple months ago and recieved it with this condition its was about 8'' now he is about 10''
im really skepitkal about it being hole in the head because my friends tank is always in prestiene condition and always crystal clear

also he eats like a pig and has been eatting a diet of krill, feeders and high quality pellets so i know hes getting all his vitamins

i only have cell phone pics at the moment sorry
the area is missing scales and skin and seems to have a pit type thing in the middle

i do 40 % wc every 7 days

please help me figgure out how to cure this problem i dont have a clue what it is ?

Agreed with the wound part. Just keep up with water changes and add salt.

hes had this wound for 3 months i added salt for the last week 1/2 and no changes im wondering what else to do?
 
Is it an open wound or has it healed over some? Kinda hard for me to see exactly whats going on. I'd just go with your regular maitenance schedule and a round of Melafix and see what happens...

it looks like his skin is gone. he had some scratches from moving tanks and those healed but this thing by his head hasent but that wasnt from the move
 
tryed melafix for a week with no improvement . i am going to try doing 20%wc everyday for a week or two to try and see if that will work
 
no i gave that one to a friend of mine but i cant kick thisones issue i wish i would have kept the one i got from ya corey
