Ok starting my stand for my 125 tomarrow. I was thinking about doing wood screws to hold the running boards to the uprights and supports underneath, but now I am thinking differently. I want to do biskit and slots instead of the wood screws. Sorry for the grammer I didn't know how to spell it lol. The biskits will be held in with high strength glue and I will clamp each one with a vise grip. The screws will not go through 4" of wood so am I good? If your a carpenter you know what I am talking about, I also was thinking about dovetailing the joints as well what do you think?

is the thing the biskits and holding sporting more than there own weight? if no your fine if yes use bolts or screws.

Biscuits work good when you want to join edges of boards together. I stopped using them so much when I got my pocket screw kit. Pocket screws are faster and require no clamping overnight.

I like to use GRK screws, they are structural screws. THey don't snap easily, like drywall and deck screws do.

Why not use finish grade plywood instead of joining alot of lumber together? Plywood is much more stable than dimensional lumber. Build the frame of your stand out of 2x lumber and skin it with the plywood of your choice.

I would not use biscuits myself. They are generally better for hardwoods. Matt's recommendation of using GRK screws is a good call.

Biscuits will hold fine as long as they are only holding the wood together and not actually holding the tank weight. As stated above, why not just use plywood? I would not even use the 2x material myself. If constructed right, the plywood itself is strong enough. 2x material is NOT needed in a properly designed stand.

Build a 2x4 frame and put plywood on the outside on 3 corners and design it so the weight of the tank will be on both the frame and the ply .

Well I was going to do an ACE ply finish. Three sheets wrapped around the 2x4 frame. I am not a great carpenter, but the guy who is helping me is a professional carpenter/roofer. He said the biscuits hold really well but I'll ask about GRK screws as you guys suggested. You guys are very helpful thanks!
