I came home tonight and my fire eels belly and some of his tale was white (maybe a little bulged) and he his having a HORRIBLE time swimming upright/ at all, it's like his belly is paralyzed - but the rest of him is fine. I tried to hand feed him but he won't take any food.......I am so freaking stressed - he'll probably be dead by morning : ( GREAT way to start off the freaking day. I should just sell my tanks, I hate this sooo much. I want to just quit this hobby - I killed my lionfish and now my fire eel......I don't know what to do - I don't know what I would do if I lost another....I'm so upset right now. If I could just save my eel.

:help2:

Your best bet is to start doing some water changes. Good, clean water seems to be the best bet in curing ailing fish. I'm not sure about adding meds without knowing specifically what the ailment is.

I woke up this morning and he's alive, he can't swim so i took him out lastnight so the other fish wouldn't nip at him.....so he's in a bucket - It's pretty hard to imagine that just clean water would clear up his white belly......maybe he's got something??? I'll call the pet store as soon as I can to try to find what's going on before it's too late.....but I really need some help : /

Adding a pic of the ailment would defiantly help with trying to figure out what the problem is. Also what are the parameters of your tank before you do a water change? Size of tank along with inhabitants and filters helps as well.

a pic would help alot. oh i hope he doesn't die he was my baby. :( has he been eatting?

that is the same thing that happend to mine. when i first got my tank i did a water change and stupidly didnt leave room for any splash back from the filter i had an airator, but 1 of my bichers bit and clamped the tube without me knowing.they spent 12+ hours without any AIR! when i woke up i put 4 air pumps to try to fix it but for the eel it was too late. he stayed alive for about 3 days and he died i tried everything. i am so sorry this is so long but i didnt know if this could be your problem. i wish you luck and dont sell your tank it will be fine. and again GOOD LUCK

how big is the bucket. Leaving it in the bucket will deteriorate the water quality very quickly and also not to mention the ammonia. I will definitely die if placed in the bucket. Do you have any spare tanks or a LARGE tube. try placing it in that with filter media from the main tank. change water of the tub daily.
