Help! Thermometer broke!

My thermometer just broke!!!!

The steel bits that weighed it down are strewn all over my gravel and I dont have a chemical free magnet to get them out. I cant do a WC because its sw and its costly. Will the steel rust overnight and ruin the whole tank of water or can I leave it till tmrw?

Chemical free magnet? Put the magnet into a plastic bag, seal well and just use that. It'll have no problem picking up the metal bits through the bag.

or just do the WC even if it is costly, better than any damage to the tank's inhabitants

everyone should pick up old "trash" speakers from the side of the road atleast once so that they can pull out the big magnets which are GREAT for solving issues just like this..

No need to pick them out of the trash. I have a few of those in the garage.

I'll have to grab a trash speaker and strip it for magnets next time I see one. Thanks for the idea.

fyi.. a hammer will help you get the magnet lose.. you dont need the whole thing just a chunk of it..
