Can anyone help ID these fish? I was gonna but then but wasn’t sure what they were and they didn’t know what they were as someone surrendered them.

I think they look closer to a fen but wanted some input from someone else more familiar witht hem
Agree about probably being fenestratus (or a hybrid), I have kept both fen and bifas.
The body shape is more fenestratus, and one of the ways bifas is separated from other Vieja, is that it has two longitudinal bands, one running alone the mid body from operculum to the caudal, and a second wider one,(more of an irregular blotch) just under the first lateral line mid body.
Below a bifas to compare, note the obvious 2nd band under the 1st lateral line.
One other characteristic, is on bifas the color on thee face is reticulated, whereas in the OP photo it is not.
