Hi, i have a group of 7 red hump geophagus i was growing in my cichlid tank. They are about 2"- i didnt think they would breed yet, but 3 weeks ago i seen a pair spawning, i let them finish and watched her scoop the eggs in her mouth, i then moved her into a smaller tank and she released 30 or so fry a week ago. all doing well. now i have just seen another in the main tank with a full mouth and defending her area! my question is can i put her in with the existing fry from the other female or will they be eaten? and should i remove the first female now?

thanks in advance for your thoughts

I dont have another spare, i will have to check has any1 got a spare for her. will the fry be ok to mix when she releases them? 3 week difference between the batches?

I'm not sure on your species of fish.. but how big are the first batch of fry?

If they're not bigger than half a centimeter or so.. I would say.. strip the fry from the second female, remove the first female and place the second batch of fry with the first.
