I have White Spots on my fish, after reading they have the symptoms of it, surface breathing, lack of eating, and running into walls. I bought the Wardley Ick Away. Can you give me more specific instructions on how to use the product. I treated the water and took out filter yesterday, today i changed out 50 percent of the water and took out the ornaments. The temperature was turned up. I would like more specific instructions of how to use the product. How many times should i treat the water and how often should i change the water? PLEASE help, i have only had the fish a week. there are 3. 2 mollys and a pleco.

I'd simply use table salt. Dose with a tablespoon per 5g. Dissolve the salt before adding to your tank. Meds are only last resorts. Salt is much safer if added slowly and carefully. Increase heat by 86 degrees Fahrenheit and maximize oxygen levels. Treat for 14 days minimum.

1 table spoon per 5 gallon. You only salt once. Turn up the heat and add your meds.

I would be careful on the meds, when I used it the bigger fish were OK but the smaller fish had a tough time. I'm not sure of the condition of your fish but if they are already weak, I would use conservative treatment only with salt and heat.

Okay, what if I put aquarium salt in the tank weeks earlier, would I still add table salt on top of this? The salt in the water kills the ich bacteria?

I just read something off the web about salt treatment:

Is 5 tablespoons per 5 gallons lethal to the fish? The article recommends 5 tablespoons per 5 gallons.

Table salt and aquarium salt are similar. Just use table salt. You can save your few bucks from buying aquarium salt. Ich is not bacteria but protozoan. This has been explained here.

Dosage varies. A tablespoon is 2-3 teaspoon. Most people do recommend that but you have to add salt slowly to avoid the fish from suffering osmotic shock which can prove fatal to them. It is up to you how you treat your tank.
