I have an old 29g tank want to take apart to use as lids on my 300g. I removed the top and bottom frames but I am having trouble getting the seams apart, Im afraid im goin to break the glass. Has anyone done this before? or any advise? :irked:

it shouldn't be that hard, just use razor blade to strip off the old silicon.

Get some thin metal wire at HD....looks like a guitar string....run it right down the seem....

I'm not really having the best of luck. When I go between the side an front piece the side piece is chipping all the way down. Do I need to heat the silicone?

Heating could cause the glass to crack if not done evenly enough.
The way i did it is use a razor blade to scrape all the silicone off the inside of the seams which allowed the ones i've done to come apart pretty easily.
If its still stubborn i would use wire as suggested to work your way down the seam in a kinda sawing motion which should pull any remaining silicone out of the seam, but i didnt even have to do that on the ones i've done.
