i have have my TSN for about a month now. The first week i placed some live feeder fish on its tank the next day it evidentlly ate because i saw it belly grow larger but ever since then i never saw it ate. Its belly never grew bigger. Ever since i placed it with my oscar it has been hanging out in the bottom corner of the tank. just lying there. I feed them beef heart and shrimp. I think he has not eaten in days. He is with a spotted gar and an oscar. Maybe its scared of the Oscar. What do you thinkl is the best thing to do?

what sized tank are they in right now? does the oscar bully him, or is there a different reason you think he is scared of the oscar? try feeding at lights out, you won't see him eat, but he might be more likely to get the food than the oscar if you feed with the lights off.

:iagree:
or use frozen blood worms
add them after switching the lights off

the oscar does'nt seem to bully him but i think he's intimidated by the oscar.. i'll try putting him in another tank and then see if he eats.. He ate once.. it was a feeder fish.. but after i placed him with an oscar he stopped eating.. How long does a TSN last without food?

it depends on the size
as it is getting intimidated by the oscar then i am guessing it is quite small
anyways i used to have this problem
get earthworms or night crawlers and drop them in front of the cats mouth
this should work (worked for me),if the oscar doesn't eat the worm first

oscars can be greedy little buggers, so a divider would be best, but if that isn't an option, I stand by my "feed at lights out" statement, and the frozen bloodworms are a good idea at lights out as well, even if the oscar trys to eat it, they are messy enough there will still be some left over for the tsn when he goes prowling in the night...

competition for food. feed your oscars mid-day so they will be less hungry at night, then feed again at night so the tsn will be able to eat. they are more nocturnal anyways.

Just keep in mind that fish can get internal parasites from feeders. Mine rarely get live fish unless I quarantine them for 2 weeks and medicate them first.
