so i was checking cragslist 2 days ago when i saw FREE FISH TANK.emailed the gentlemen within 30 sec..so when i went to pick it up it was filled up a couple inches of water because it was loaded with plants....ok i thought,nice.then he pulled out a bag with a 4 in bristle nose. and a massive piece of pet.wood and said he eats off of it.i asked him about a heater and he never had one....????.i came home and put him in one of my other tanks with a heater.my problem is he cant stay and has to go to my new tank.will he be ok?tank temp is about 77.5 and is changing only within a degree or so over the past 2 days.my room mate has a 3 gallon with no heater and a baby sucker in it and it is doing fine but i dont want to kill the guy.i would go get a heater but just got out of school to be a sleep tech and money it tight.WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHTS

lol what i got free.
29 gallon tank w/blk silicon(only 1 minor scratch in back)
5 plants of some sort
massive pet. wood(paid 15 bucks for a smaller peice i have this one is wayyyyyy bigger)
1 greek colum
1 penguin filter
1 pleco
hood and lights

actually i think he would be ok without a heater, just acclimatise him slowly. when the electricity cut off in my street, my plec survived in my tank for the whole night without the heater, and he was fine! and he was at 30deg C before.

lol I own four heaters;

(3) are in the garage
(1) is in a 13gal garbage can keeping my CO2 generator toasty.

but seriously I find large tanks change temp very slow (specific heat is much higher for water than air) and with a thermostat in the house fluctuations are barely 1deg. Plecos are tough little boogers, he should be fine but keep your eye on him since it's onry 3gal!
